Description

The Program Assistant is the customer facing role for the West LA Job Center and is the key person on the Welcome team.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at the front desk for the majority of the workday.

  • Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • High School diploma or GED. AA in Business or experience in a Job Center preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or other community-based language a plus.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This individual loves people and enjoys helping others.
  • Meets and greets people coming into the lobby.
  • These folks range from zero work history to PHDs.
  • Understands the programs that the Center offers and helps jobseekers use our Resource Center.
  • Directs customers to the appropriate staff when they have appointments.
  • Provides accurate information when responding to all customer inquiries about the Center and services.
  • Is responsible for maintaining monthly calendar of activities and conference room reservations and set up.
  • Reports to the program manager and other senior management.
  • Answers, screens and forwards phone calls.
  • Is always looking for ways to improve our customer service.
  • In addition to coordinating front desk activities, this person will be available as a backup to the Intake Specialist and provide enrollment services when needed.
  • Assist with in providing follow up on past participants by emailing, calling, or texting them when needed.
  • Is a team player and works with different programs and managers to ensure the Center’s success.
  • Provides data of the Center’s traffic to the program manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.

Salary

$21.00 per hour + benefits
