Role Responsibilities  

  • Inspect incoming raw materials, mechanical/electronic components, and assemblies for compliance with purchase orders, technical drawings, and aerospace standards (including AS9100 and AS9102).
  • Perform final inspections of aerospace parts, assemblies, and systems prior to shipment, ensuring conformance to engineering drawings, contracts, and regulatory standards, including Acceptance Test Data Sheets, inspection checklists, and shipping certifications.   
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with A9102 standards for new or revised aerospace components and assemblies.  
  • Complete mechanical, visual, and functional inspections on critical hardware, including pressurized systems, composite parts, and machined components. 
  • Verify Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), material test reports (MTRs), and special process certifications (e.g. heat treat, plating) for compliance.  
  • Identify and document nonconformances, segregate suspect material, and initiate supplier corrective action requests (SCARs).  
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure traceability of materials according to AS9100 and customer requirements.  
  • Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to resolve discrepancies prior to qualification and customer submission.  
  • Support the preparation and submission of Product Acceptance Test (PAT) reports, and Qualification Test Reports (QTR).  
  • Support internal and external audits.  
  • Train and mentor junior inspectors and production staff on inspection techniques and best practices.  
  • Work in manufacturing computer system to records inspections, move parts through inspection queues, and generate nonconformance report requests.  

Qualifications 

  • Associates degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in a regulated industry (aerospace, robotics, medical device, automotive, or equivalent) 
  • Prior experience with aerospace inspection processes and standards 
  • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC-A-620 board inspection certification preferred 
  • Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) 
  • ASQ certifications are a plus 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift items over 40 lbs 

Compensation 

The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $44,389 - $88,471. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.  Benefits listed in this posting may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Capella Space.
