Senior Product Designer, Growth

Block
On-site
Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

The Role

Square's Growth Product Design team helps sellers discover the value of our ecosystem—then stick around to grow with us. We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join this mission and elevate how customers engage with Square's product experience.

You'll be deep in the product—designing thoughtful, high-craft experiences that improve adoption, build trust, and support long-term retention. Whether helping new sellers get started or re-engaging them with the right next step, you'll be focused on impact and outcomes.

You'll partner closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and fellow designers to shape meaningful journeys across mobile and web. We're looking for someone who's grounded in interaction design, strong in systems thinking, and comfortable building end-to-end solutions in complex product environments.

We aim to build a design team that reflects the diversity and inclusivity of the Square seller community. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply and welcome any personal experiences that enhance your empathy for our users, especially those with firsthand experience in the small business or financial sectors.

You Will

  • Design product experiences that help sellers onboard, activate, and succeed across Square's ecosystem—focusing on mobile-first, high-impact touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with partners to define strategy, shape roadmaps, and deliver end-to-end flows that increase adoption and retention.
  • Use craft, curiosity, and customer insight to simplify complexity and guide sellers to value.
  • Balance quick iteration with high-quality execution—contributing to both vision work and shippable UI.
  • Elevate the work of others by giving clear, actionable feedback and helping grow a culture of design excellence across the Growth organization.
  • Advocate for native mobile best practices and design patterns that feel intuitive, performant, and platform-native.

You Have

  • 8+ years of experience in product design, with a portfolio that shows strong interaction design, craft excellence, and clear problem-solving across mobile and web.
  • Demonstrated success designing for native mobile applications (iOS and Android)—including nuanced transitions, gestures, and platform conventions.
  • A systems thinker who can map out complex flows, yet sweat the details at every step.
  • Experience driving measurable outcomes, not just output—whether increasing engagement, activation, or retention.
  • Strong collaboration skills—you bring clarity and energy to cross-functional work.
  • A customer-first mindset, with the ability to interpret data and research into design decisions that support real people and real businesses.
