Reports To: Assistant Administrator
Summary: Responsible for preparing meals, snacks; and the cleaning of cooking utensils and equipment.
Essential Functions:
1. Prepares three meals and light snacks each day according to the posted menu.
2. Performs thorough routine cleaning of dishes, utensils, cookware, stove, oven, refrigerators, sink and countertops after each meal.
3. Maintains and keeps inventory of perishable and non-perishable food supplies adequately; prepares grocery shopping list.
4. Performs thorough cleaning of dining tables and chairs periodically; keeps storage room clean.
5. Assists Home Health Aides to serve meals and beverages.
6. Attends weekly staff meetings, special meetings and all required in-service training sessions.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. One year of cooking or catering experience, preferably Asian style.
2. Must have and maintain a valid Serve Safe certificate.
3. Demonstrated interest and ability to work with elderly and as part of a team.
4. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Must be bilingual in English and Cantonese. Mandarin a plus.
6. Ability to multi-task and to work weekends and holidays.
7. Must pass a strength test for physical fitness for the job prior to employment and every 2 years thereafter: Able to lift up to 30 lbs from floor to waist level.
8. Must be able to withstand physical activities such as pushing, pulling, stooping, standing, walking etc.
9. Must pass health screening for TB clearance and criminal record clearance.
