JOB TITLE: Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday (8:00am-4:30pm)

LOCATION: Venice, CA / Santa Monica, CA / Los Angeles, CA, On-site

STATUS: Full-Time, 40 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt

DRIVER POSITION: Yes [If yes, see driving policy below] 

SALARY RANGE: $25.00/hr

Founded in 2011, our agency offers trauma-informed, low barrier programs that support young people in exiting the streets and achieving stability. ABOUT THE ROLE

Under the general supervision of the Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator independently performs a wide range of facilities and maintenance repair and renovation work for SPY’s 8 sites. This role is expected to collaborate with other members of the Operations team to perform necessary repairs, installations and facilities support functions; transport and store items and materials; make site purchases; coordinate with third party vendors; conduct janitorial services as needed; and perform other related facilities and systems support functions as assigned.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Light construction work, repairs, and building upgrades
  • Turning units in housing programs, including painting, cleaning, and replacing furniture
  • General janitorial support such as maintaining restroom, trash collection, clearing stoppages in toilets, sinks, and floor drains, and fixing/replacing soap dispensers, toilet seats, bathroom hardware, and water faucet washers
  • Executing site installations such as fire fire extinguishers, bulletin boards, mailboxes, etc.
  • Repairing/replacing window, door, and cabinetry hardware, and lighting fixtures.
  • Performs janitorial tasks that include maintaining restrooms, trash collection, sweeping and mopping..
  • Assembling furniture and office equipment; light building as needed. 
  • Driving SPY Van to transport materials, drop off donations, remove site trash, make purchase, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization. 
Requirements

  

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Maintenance Engineering is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a facility maintenance coordinator or any similar role is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry and masonry is required.
  • Candidates who have completed an apprenticeship is also a plus.
  • Cultural Responsiveness.
  • Ability to determine whether or not an item or fixture is repairable, and to estimate type and quantity of material needed for a project.
  • Ability to accommodate a work schedule that varies according to operational needs and may include evening and occasional weekend hours
  • Have the ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, reach, see, sit, and exercise mental concentration, carry, push, pull or otherwise move moderately heavy to heavy loads; walk long distances around campus; stoop, and squat; climb ladders.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to receive and provide information regarding site needs. 
  • May require lifting over 50 lbs., while observing safe lifting techniques.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.
  • Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.

Driver Positions:

Applicants are required to provide a copy of their driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles, along with a copy of their valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Job offers are contingent upon a satisfactory driving record.
