Summary

The Program Outreach Coordinator will support the Program Compliance and Government Affairs Departments by providing ongoing, in-person Education and Outreach in alignment with the contractual obligations of our Franchise Agreement. This role will focus on engaging with customers to promote compliance, increase waste diversion, and implement effective resource management practices. Responsibilities include conducting on-site visits, delivering training sessions, and offering hands-on support to help customers meet SB 1383 requirements.

Job Description

  • Provide comprehensive customer support, including right-sizing services, identifying waste problem areas, determining appropriate container types and locations, establishing collection schedules, and assessing employee training needs.
  • Facilitate customer communications and conflict resolution, ensuring compliance with deliverables and revenue-related expectations.
  • Conduct on-site business visits, perform waste assessments, and administer surveys to gather data and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Support service processing functions such as handling service changes, invoice adjustments, and payment collections.
  • Offer administrative and analytical support, including answering customer inquiries via phone and other channels.
  • Evaluate customers' resource management practices, identify opportunities for improved waste diversion, and assist in setting sustainability goals.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including business owners, property managers, maintenance staff, residents, community groups, and the general public.
  • Participate in public education and outreach activities, such as giving presentations, conducting workshops and trainings, and hosting informational tables.
  • Represent the organization at school and community events, including those held outside regular business hours and on weekends.
  • Educate customers on current recycling and waste regulations, including SB 1383, AB 1826, and AB 341.
  • Implement commercial waste diversion strategies, focusing on reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting initiatives.
  • Contribute to pilot programs that test new strategies for improving recycling rates, reducing waste, and increasing operational efficiency.
  • Provide backup support to the Customer Service team during peak periods, as needed.
  • Report to the Program Compliance Supervisor with regular updates on account activity, including weekly status and call reports.
  • Conduct outreach to promote additional services, cross-sell offerings, and support business development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Customer Service, Operations, Finance, and Collections to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Log daily mileage using the designated tracking application.
  • Carry out additional education and outreach responsibilities consistent with the duties listed above, as well as other related tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Office experience (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Proven ability of effectively managing client relationships
  • Interact effectively with individuals from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds
  • Ability to travel to Los Angeles and Riverside County surrounding cities
  • Ability to work after work hours and weekends
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (i.e. Spanish, Korean, Chinese, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience in CRM Databases (i.e. Softpak) and sales related software (i.e. Salesforce)
  • Certification, training, and experience in recycling and materials management
  • A general understanding of: applicable federal, state and local legislation and regulations related to materials management; general terminology regarding waste, recycling, resource management, and zero waste; product characterization and materials identification; extended producer responsibility

Salary: $22.50 per hour
